Service Modalities
This page is to help you understand some of the tools I use during the therapy process. Below is additional information on interventions I commonly use. When we schedule our appointments, we will discuss the type of session/modality and how they fit into your personal treatment plan.
As the name says, we will be walking while talking. We will meet in a park or other safe, public location for sessions. Walk and Talk therapy offers an opportunity to reduce stress, relieve body tension, improve circulation, breathe deep and clear the body-mind of intrusive, negative and ruminative thoughts and sensations. While you can receive the feel-good brain chemical benefits of exercise, mindfulness practice and eco-psychology; the focus is on metal health, not fitness.
*This modality requires an additional service consent that addresses the confidentiality risks with this intervention.
Walk and Talk Therapy
Drama Therapy
Drama therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses drama, theatre techniques, role‑rehearsal, storytelling, and improvisation to help people express emotions, solve problems, and support personal growth.
In traditional therapy we retrain the mind how to think. In Drama Therapy we take it a step further to understand what is being felt in the body and how to respond to it. This somatic & embodied approach is helpful in processing and healing the mind/body connection.
Expressive Arts
Therapies
Expressive arts therapy [the integrated use of multiple arts forms] in particular is essential to many individuals' trauma reparation and is an important part of that process. Arts of Intention supports using these methods and promotes the value of art, music, drama, dance/movement, and poetry in trauma-informed care, psychotherapy and wellness.
Clients are invited to engage in these modalities. The focus is on the process, not the talent
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
ART is a short-term psychotherapy intervention designed to help individuals process and resolve traumatic memories, anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns. It works by guiding clients to replace negative mental images associated with trauma with positive images of their choosing, effectively reducing the emotional and physical reactions triggered by these memories.
ART incorporates smooth-pursuit eye movements, where clients follow the therapist’s hand or visual cues while recalling distressing events. These bilateral eye movements are thought to enhance brain integration and facilitate memory reconsolidation, allowing traumatic memories to be stored in a less distressing way.
*An initial ART session is typically 90+ minutes and is a charge of $250.
