Addressing Issues in Middle and Late Adulthood
Ferris Bueller once said “Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” Stress in adulthood is the space between the expectations we have and the reality. The feeling that if we were to stop and look around, it would all collapse. The right therapy approach can move you from surviving to thriving!
Adulthood often involves balancing established roles in career, family, and community, which can lead to feeling overwhelmed or stagnant. For parents, the added stress of being the household CEO to a permanent staff of developing humans can lead to burnout and decreased satisfaction.
In later adulthood, ages 60+ we face a review of our life often through the sense of regret or achievement. Retirement paired with changes in health, social supports, increased spousal caregiving, and finances can increase depression and decrease life satisfaction. While the aging process can pose its challenges, it also holds a wealth of satisfaction and adventure that counseling can help to re-focus you on looking ahead to the celebration years.
Therapy offers a reflective space to navigate these complexities, whether you are managing long-term stress, processing life shifts, or seeking a deeper sense of fulfillment. We work collaboratively to strengthen your resilience and help you move through life role transition challenges with renewed purpose and balance.
