Intergenerational Caregiver Counseling
Surviving the Sandwich Generation Era
The "sandwich generation" refers to middle-aged adults who find themselves "sandwiched" between caring for their own children and their aging parents. While every generation experiences this era, the way they experience it is vastly different. Adults today are juggling more stressors with less resources than their parents. While previous generations began to experience this in their 40's and 50's, today's caregivers are starting the duties in their mid 30's and caregiving longer.
Intergenerational Caregiver Counseling addresses the complex emotional challenges and recognition of the mental load that family caregivers face. We focus on building resilience, identifying resources to assist with care, understanding community supports in place. Intergenerational Caregiver Counseling is part therapy and part coaching to help equip you to get through this time.
For adults caring for an adult child, grandchild and/or a spouse, we can create a treatment plan for you also! Reach out and lets get the ball rolling.
